The last day that Katie and Braydon will be with me here in Las Vegas and we spent the whole afternoon in the UMC Quick Care. I got a call on my cell phone just before lunchtime while I was with a patient and could not answer it. Another call about 30 seconds later. One more about a minute later in which I was able to answer from my friend that we are living with telling me Braydon had just split his head open and needed stitches. I got off the phone and asked several co-workers where we could go in Henderson. He was playing in our friends living room when he fell and hit his head on a rocking chair. He was wearing some kid safety glasses on this head so Katie don't know if he actually hit the chair of if the glasses cut his head.
The problem was that our friends had an appointment for a minor medical procedure and Katie was without a car. I talked to my boss and she told me it was alright to leave for the afternoon (even though we were busy). I met them at the hospital close to our friends house. Katie was still trying to figure out where our insurance worked so the stay "in network." I then drove Katie and Braydon the Quick Care. We spent the next 2 hours waiting to get a few, simple stitches (in which I could have done with the right, sterile instruments.)
He DID NOT like the fact that he needed two shots to numb the area before procedure would begin. The doctor wrapped a sheet around him with his arms at his side, like a little burrito, screaming his head off, with me holding his head still so he would not move. The doctor then draped a sterile cloth over his head with a small hole so he could work on the little area. He ended up with 6 stitches over his left eye brow.
Katie said he was very brave with very little crying (and to mention little blood). For his bravery, he got a special toy. He wanted a new cell phone, ipod, and bluetooth ear piece transformer set, which he loved and wanted really bad.
I put some pictures of his war wound in the photo album. I know this is a quick update from our last post so if you have not read our last post, keep on reading.

Poor kid. Sorry to hear about the stitches. Braydon, you look just like your dad with that cell phone!
hmmmm, maybe if I go and get hurt I'll get a new cell phone :)
It's always hard to see your child get hurt. And then to restrain him like a burrito in sheets...that will scar anyone for life. I'm glad he's doing ok now. I bet his new toys lifted his spirits.
