First Round Goes To.......

I'm OFFICIALLY depressed as I write this post. FOOTBALL is over. I know, the Pro Bowl is this Sunday but that's just an all-star game that the main stars don't play in because of "injuries" or "fatigue" and so forth. I will watch but still not the same as the regular season or the play-offs.

Now it's time to change the focus to the NCAA and NBA. I love NCAA basketball. I think its the passion, hard work, dedication of the college athlete that I'm drawn to. I don't know what happens to the "college athlete" when they enter the NBA. Maybe the money just goes to their heads because the passion, hard work, and dedication evaporates.

When I think of NCAA basketball, I quickly think of Duke vs UNC and the rivalry that is between these two fine programs. I personally believe the schedule makers specifically planned this game at this time to get me, the casual fan, to watch with football ending. It was a very good game. Now, I have two friends who have ties to each of these universities, one a life long Duke fan and the other a proud Graduate student at UNC, that have become a great friendly rivalry in its self.

Round 1 goes to the Blue Devils of Duke (hence the new background). I do have to admit that UNC was without one of their best players due to injury. I think Duke would have still won considering how well they shot the ball from the 3-point line. (I wonder what my two buddies think about that???) The good thing is that they play one more time in a few weeks and then maybe again if they continue to do well in the ACC Championship.

As for the NBA, I follow the Utah Jazz. Not as much as I use to but since I grew up in Utah, its only natural to be a Jazz fan. They have been playing very well as of late putting together an 11 game win streak that continued tonight against the Denver Nuggets in an Overtime thriller.

Now, back to the family stuff!!!

We went to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino for dinner the other night. I received a gift card to the House of Blues that is located inside Mandalay Bay. I got the Full rack of Ribs, Katie got the Clam Chowder in a Bread bowl and Braydon got a kids drink (because he ate before we left). It was delicious and WILL go there again. So if anyone is interested in going, let us know!!!! We then walked through the Luxor Hotel and Casino that is next door to Mandalay Bay because Braydon has always wanted to go "into the pyramid." As we were walking, I got to see the former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Larry Holmes. He was signing autographs with several other former boxers that I don't recognize. We had a great evening walking around and looking at all the neat stuff in the Luxor.

Our parties this weekend were good. Our friends put on a Mardi Gras party with several other couples. We had GREAT Southern food, along with chatting, and game playing. All had a great time. The next day we hosted a Superbowl party. Again, with lots of food, chatting, and watching football.

OOHH how the background pains my heart! The game was quite a nail-biter, Duke played quite a game. I'm looking forward to sweet revenge in a few weeks.

And as for the food at House of Blues, Kerrie and I went to the H.O.B. while we were in South Carolina, and we loved it!

Keep up the good posts!
