Championship & Streak Snapped???

We came back to Vegas ready for the baseball playoffs. Braydon's team won their first round game while we were in Utah. We made it back home in time for the second round. He played the A's and it was the last team he faced before we left for Utah. He continued his hitting streak to 6 in the win with a 3 for 3 game:

Hit #3

We then play in the Semi-Finals against the Yankees (I hate the Yankees). During our 2nd round game, the Yankee Coach came to "Scout" us and was taking notes on all our players, where they were hitting the ball, and who were our best fielders. Needless to say, from a very reliable source, that high school coaches don't even do that (and this is coach pitch remember).
Braydon continued his hitting streak to 7 in the win going 1-3. It was the teams best game of the year by far:

We then play the next day (in the morning) against the Rockies who we played twice during the year. We won one and lost one. The team just looked tired and slow. They played so hard the night before and the tank was on EMPTY. Braydon's hitting streak was snapped in the process at 7 games with an 0-3 effert in which he was the last out of the game (I don't think he realized that). We didn't play "Pepper" with him that morning before the game like we have the last 7 games so the blame can rest on us a little but the whole team was down for some reason. We are so VERY proud of Braydon. He has improves so much in such a little time and now he loves to throw and hit the baseball around. Here are some Trophy Presentation pictures (also in Photo Album):
Now we are getting ready for Fall Ball to start so more baseball to come!!! Yes, It was also my Birthday so we went to eat lunch with the Crane's because they came to support Braydon in his game. Katie then took me to Dinner at a Seafood/Chinesse Buffet. I added some pictures (yes, that is an oyster and sushi) of the last few weeks so take a look.

5 Game Hit Streak!!!

In Braydon's last game, he got a base hit to extend his hitting streak to 5 games. He will not be attending his last two game of the regular season because we will be in Utah for the weekend. His team will be in the playoffs so he will continue to play when we get back. Hopefully he will continue his hitting streak. We are going to Utah for a high school graduation and a family dinner afterwords, a family poker game (yes, I should be favored to win!!!!), and my first round of golf of the year (which should be scary). It will be a quick trip with all of our time up in Heber. We will tell you how it went in a couple of days. Until then, Chow.

Hitting Streak!!!!

Braydon has had 7 hits in the last 9 at bats over his last three games. Including a 5 in a row streak. He got 5 singles in a row and then on his sixth hit, the shortstop (who wasn't paying attention) had the ball bounce right into his glove and he touched second base to get a force out to end the inning. In his next game, he was two for three with hits every time he has been up to bat. He got thrown out at first his second time up. This make it 11 hits (singles & ground outs) in the season. He is improving so much with his hitting and base running. All the parents have told us how much he is improving every game. He is finally starting to like to play. We told him that when he reached 10 hits he got to buy some batting gloves so for FHE we made good on our promise. We have a game Wednesday and Saturday so we will get you posted.

Here are the videos:

Announcement!!!!

To all of our family and friends,

We hope to find all is well with you and your family. We are sending this letter to inform you of an exciting time in our family. After many years of extensive testing and much prayer we have decided as a family to adopt. After searching and praying about many adoption services we have chosen to adopt through LDS Family Services. The adoption process can be an exciting, yet long and expensive, process. We have created a blog regarding our adoption process. If you would like to follow along with us every step of the way, or help in any way, please visit: www.shaneandkatiesadoption.blogspot.com

If you are wondering what to do to help us, here are some ways that you can help our dreams come true. First and foremost, if you know of a birthmother that wants to give her child a loving home please refer her to LDS Family Services. Our contact there is Brad and he can be reached at (702) 385-1072.

Secondly, we are trying to raise money to help with the financial expenses of adoption. Some of the ways you can help is by buying gifts to give to someone, donate your time at special events, donate talents you may have kept hidden, or any other way you can think of. Katie has begun to sale Scentsy products that would be a great gift for you, friends, or family. Her personal website is www.scentsy.com/katierogers where you can browse and buy products anytime directly from her.

Katie, and some of our close family members, have started making and selling baby items. These include booties, blankets, burp rags, hats, head bands, and hair clips. You can find out more at www.handmadesweetsomethings.blogspot.com.

Last, but not least, we will be trying to put some fundraisers together. If you have donations for a Garage Sale, Bake Sale, Craft Sale, or would like to volunteer your time or talents for these events, please contact us by phone, email, or mail.
We have always known that there are more children for us. Our family is really excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. With the help of family and friends, we know this can happen. Again, we want to express our thanks to all of you for your love and support.

With much love,

Shane, Katie, and Braydon Rogers

P.S: Our first big fundraiser event will be a Summer Yard Sale, held in Utah, around the end of July. If you have any items you would like to donate we can arrange to have things picked up if needed.

Our Busy Weekend!!!

This weekend has been very busy. Katie's mom and sister Lindsey came for the weekend. This was not a pleasure visit but rather a working weekend. Katie (and our entire family) are trying to raise money (more on this to come in the next few weeks so keep checking our blog for our BIG plans!!!) by making and selling crafts. Katie found out about a "Garage sale" at a school and recruited Nettie and Lindsey to come and help. Basically, the only time we left the house was to 1) shop for more "stuff" 2) eat 3) Braydon's baseball game (more on that at the end). Our house was a disaster the whole weekend (which drove Katie NUTS!!!) but that's all good. They had a pretty good turn out at the Craft sale. They were able to make some money and we all enjoyed the company. It's just to bad it was a short trip!!!

Another reason for the visit from Nettie was that is was her birthday. Katie made her a cake in which we all enjoyed. Probably not one of the funnest "birthday vacations" but she got to enjoy the sun, see Braydon, see Katie and of course ME!!!!

The Easter Bunny visited our house with lots of candy. Braydon got Bedtime Stories, church clothes and candy. We did color some eggs and had a very low key Easter.

Braydon is now 7 years old. He had a Friends Birthday party a week ago. The theme was Bakugan. He ended up with a lot of Bakugans and Legos. He choose to go to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants called Coyotes in Henderson. Our server brought out a thing of ice cream and whip cream. For those who don't know, Braydon is a VERY picky eater. Now back to the story. After a bunch of people sang "Happy Birthday" our server picked up a spoon got some whip cream and feed it to Braydon in which he quickly spit it out on to his clothes. After cleaning him up we realize he was trying to blow out the candle at the exact moment the whip cream was going into the mouth. Needless to say, Braydon did not want his ice cream after that!!!

Last but not least. Braydon got his 2nd base hit of the year. This time we got it on video so take a look:
